(PR.com)-- abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndexAfter years of complaints against the news and media for not running more stories about the "deep dark secrets" of the timeshare industry, Apex Professionals recognizes ABC News' recent story as a step in the right direction.

Apex Professionals, LLC, a company that helps timeshare owners get of their contracts, has being trying to get news coverage on the rapidly decaying timeshare industry for years. Recently ABC News ran a story revealing the very real and very distressing truths about what is happening in the timeshare industry today.

ABC News reported that some timeshare owners are seeing their maintenance fees more than double in just a few years.“This unfortunate situation is only accelerating,” remarked one executive of Apex Professionals.

“As more and more people start experiencing the financial depression, they think that not paying their maintenance fees is a good way to avoid extra expenses. What they don’t realize is that most resorts won’t just take the property back when an owner doesn’t pay their fees. First they add interest and late fees to the balance, then they send you to collections which can affect your credit, and it is possible that they will file for a default judgment against the owners.” Meanwhile, what happens to the owners who are paying their maintenance fees is that the resorts send out a special assessment to cover the fees that are not being paid. We have seen more examples of this in 2009 than ever before.”

ABC News also reported that many owners are paying real estate agents and listing companies to “list” and “advertising” their timeshares for sale but that owners are not seeing any buyers and are just losing more money.

“Avoiding these “listing” companies is something we have been trying to educate timeshare owners on for years;" remarked and Apex Consultant."It’s easy for even savvy consumers to fall for their “pitch” because it sounds so good you want to believe it. The listing companies promise they can sell the timeshare for the same or even more than what the owners bought it for. The reality is, most timeshare owners are lucky if they can sell their timeshares for anything at all.”

“The story ABC News ran was good;” agreed Apex Professionals, “but it was only one tiny step in the right direction and it barely scratched the surface. Very little attention was given to the real problems, such as how hard these contracts really are to get out of and the near impossible reality of today’s resale market. We are hoping the industry gets more exposure so that timeshare owners can finally get the answers they have been looking for and so that more people will avoid this costly money pit."

In the market, Apex Professionals is committed to providing a service that people need.
Personally, Apex Professionals in committed to proving for the needs of people.

  1. The other thing that they left out is the fact that these resorts are available to use without even being an owner now. There are all kinds of ways to go to the resorts that people paid thousands of dollars to access and are stuck in a lifetime (plus) contract, with no long-term obligation. You can just rent by the night now! Which is great because the resorts are awesome.

  2. I love working for Apex, because I love helping people get out of their ridiculous lifelong contracts that they have been roped into.

I recently had a customer tell me that her and her husband wanted to get out of their time share contract shortly after their purchase. They called the salesman and found that he was no longer working for the time share company. When they inquired further he told them that he quit when he found out that what he had been instructed to tell customers were lies, and once he knew they were lies he quit. The company withheld his checks telling him he had to come back to work if he was going to receive his back paychecks. They fired him a week later.
This is the time share world in 2009.

  3. As an Apex employee, I'm able to help people out of situations they no longer want to be in.
As an example, I met with a couple who purchased a TimeShare in Hawaii in 2003 and have never been able to book a vacation at the resort they purchased - "sorry, that's not available" is the answer they got when they tried to book their vacation 12 months ahead of time - Every Year! They were so glad to be done with the TimeShare they gave me a big hug. Susan

  4. I am fortunate to be able to work as an Apex employee. I get a deep spiritual satisfaction with each client I help out of their timeshare. One particular couple had bought a timeshare but before they had a chance to use it, the husband suffered a severe stroke that left him wheelchair bound and unable to travel. They spent eight years spendiing hundreds, eventually thousands of dollars to list their property without ever receiving so much as one enquiring phone call. They even tried to give the property back to the resort. The resort refused. When we spoke with them, they were thrilled with our offer! They are so happy not to be in such a finacially draining contract anymore, even more, thier children won't ever worry about inheriting such a terrible debt. I was so glad Apex could be there for them.

  5. After meeting thousands of timeshare owners and witnessing first hand the types of problems that people have been dealing with for years, it is great to be part of the solution. Even if you still think you are getting what you want out of your timeshare, it is a smart decision to see what other options are out there. However, through my interactions with so many, I know that most people are among the countless owners who are fed up and frustrated with the entire industry. Regardless of which category you are in, Apex can help.

  6. As one of the newer members of the Apex team I have been able to learn a lot about the timeshare industry in a short period of time. Only a short time ago I had considered the purchase of a an "exclusive" resort membership for my own use after receiving many invitations to attend a timeshare meeting. Luckily, I got the inside scoop about the timeshare industry before making that mistake. When I found out that the contracts were forever, there are no real effective constraints on how the resorts can raise fees and that there is no re-sale market, I was able to get a much clearer picture of the industry. Now, I feel compelled to educate current owners and prevent others from owning these liabilities. There are so many better and cheaper ways to take great vacations in today's world. I feel very fortunate to have a job that allows me to help others everyday!
